Since she was only 5'4" and generally heard the coach say "Kate, don't shoot! Just sprint back for defense!" she decided to focus on running. Kate took a competitive running hiatus in college while completing her studies in civil engineering. Kate ran her first marathon in 2004, and has improved steadily. In 2010, Kate had a breakthrough season, setting PRs at every distance, and placing third at the New Orleans Mardi Gras Rock n Roll Marathon. Kate currently works as a consultant for government clients in DC.
