Steve Soprano
Steve got his start in running in 8th grade when he went out for the Cross Country team to get in shape for hockey season. He immediately fell in love with the sport and would later quit hockey to focus on running. Steve had a successful career at Queensbury High School where he was a 3-time MVP, team captain and leading member of the 2005 team that won the New York State XC Championships. At Cornell University, he had a difficult career struggling through 3 years of injuries, but managed to qualify and compete at the IC4A Championships as a 5th-year senior. Steve made big strides post-collegiately, finishing 10th (7th American) at the 2012 Houston Half Marathon in 1:07:53 and ran 2:26:43 in his marathon debut at Chicago 2013. Now Steve has dropped down in distance to chase some PRs at the shorter distances, but plans to go back to the marathon to try and work towards the 2020 Olympic Marathon Trials standard. Outside of his own running, Steve helps cover the elite professional side of track and field as a journalist for the popular running website, LetsRun.com.
