Teal grew up in South Jersey and found running boring until her family convinced her to go out for cross country in high school. Teal lacked the confidence to try to run collegiately at the University of Richmond, but ran a marathon while in college. After an unspectacular debut in 4:07, Teal thought she'd had enough of the sport. After graduation and a few years of minimal running, however, she found a new level of commitment, and her dedication paid off with a PR of 2:53:10. Teal joined GRC in June 2012, and she is excited to have some women to train with, and looks forward to improving her marathon PR as well as working on getting faster at shorter distances. Teal is currently a graduate student at Georgetown University.
