2025 GRC Awards

Women’s Team MVP

Alex Orr

Alex backed up her 2024 MVP award with another great year. Alex finished second at the DC Rock N Roll Half Marathon in a PR of 1:17:53. Alex got on the track and ran a massive PR of 35:03 for 10,000, which is seventh on the GRC all-time list. At the Indy Marathon Alex ran an excellent 2:42:38. Alex was disappointed in that performance, which is a testament to how far she has come in a very short time. Alex is a legitimate contender to qualify for the 2028 Olympic Trials Marathon, and she will take her shot in 2026.

Men’s Team MVP

Cameron Miller

In 2025 Cam had one of the best years in GRC history. He raced frequently, and the highlights include placing second in the 5000 at Penn Relays, running a 5000 PR of 14:11.17, which is second on the GRC all-time list, placing third at Broad Street 10 Mile and ninth in the USATF 4 Mile Road Championships, and running a club record of 23:15 at the Rothman 8k and placing third. Cam capped off the year with his outstanding second place finish at the USATF Clubs XC Championships, which is the best finish ever by a GRC athlete, and leading the team to an unprecedented victory.

Women’s Newcomer of the Year

Belaynesh Tsegaye

In 2018, Belaynesh ran a 2:27:08 marathon. For reasons outside of her control, she took a very long break from the sport, and started with GRC in April at square one. Belaynesh inspired us with her tenacity and resilience as she trained hard over the summer to build a foundation for easing back into racing. In the fall, Belaynesh ran 16:46 for 5k, which is fifth on the all-time list, 27:49 for 8k, which is sixth on the list, and 35:41 for 10k. As Belaynesh continues to return to full fitness we’ll see much, much more from her.

Men’s Newcomer of the Year

Rob Mirabello

Rob graduated from Swarthmore in 2025, where he went from a borderline walk-on to a conference scorer, and he is continuing his rapid improvement with GRC. After joining the team in July Rob ran road PRs of 15:27 for 5k and 25:12 for 8k. Rob also ran a xc 8k PR of 25:45. Rob is poised for a breakthrough track season in 2026.

Nina Brekelmans Award

Aaryn Edge

Aaryn has broken new ground at GRC as the founding member of our non-binary team. Aaryn established themselves as a national caliber athlete after finishing third in the nonbinary division at the 2025 Chicago Marathon in a PR of 2:46:46. Aaryn also finished third at the Philadelphia Distance Run half marathon in a PR of 1:17:42. Aaryn is a fitting recipient of this award because like Nina they have dedicated themselves to public service. Aaryn is a special education teacher serving an underprivileged community, and coaches high school track to the detriment of their own training. Aaryn also served GRC by working tirelessly on the team board for several years.

Lauren Woodall Roady Award

Trever Reed

Trever is one of our most dedicated athletes. In more than seven years on the team Trev has worked tirelessly to meet his goal of breaking 2:30 in the marathon and he has chipped away at it steadily, running a PR of 2:32:54 in 2025. Trev is a fitting recipient of this award because like Lauren he has set ambitious goals for himself and will not be deterred from attaining them. He’s also a wonderful teammate who will do anything he can to help his comrades.
