A recent addition to the GRC Masters team, Rich just started running competitively again for the first time in nearly 2 decades. He began running for his middle school in Columbus, OH and decided to stick with it in high school after one of the older runners said cross country was a great way to earn a letter jacket as a freshman. A mediocre high school career, while also playing basketball and baseball, led to a slightly less mediocre college career at Amherst College. At Amherst he improved significantly by finally running year-round and wrapped up his college career by winning the “coveted” Little Three Championship in the steeplechase. Rich stopped racing after about a year of running post-collegiately.
As a federal employee, Rich couldn’t afford a Corvette for his midlife crisis, so he bought super shoes instead and recommitted to training and racing competitively. He hopes to compete for podium finishes in US Masters Championships on the roads and track, and set a PR at literally any distance.
