Sydney began running in middle school and eventually won two Ohio state titles in the 1600. At Syracuse University, she collected six All-ACC honors on the track, qualified four times for the NCAA East Regional in the steeplechase, and competed in three NCAA Cross Country Championships, finishing as high as 68th and helping her team to 12th.
After serving as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Morocco from 2018 to 2020, she decided to try out the whole running thing again. Once a devoted miler and steeplechaser, she now focuses on the marathon with the goal of running an Olympic Trials qualifying time. Her shift from the mile to the marathon is a plot twist she never saw coming, but she is committing to the bit, and her history in the steeplechase suggests she has always been just unhinged enough to try it. Observers are advised to keep an eye out should she ever decide to line up for a mile again. Professionally, she works as a data scientist for the Smithsonian.
