Hailing from Wyoming, Matt has been running since he could walk (an early picture shows him running the last few steps of a 10k with his grandpa), but he started running seriously in middle school. Since he played soccer instead of running track for a sport, he was lightly recruited out of high school, and he walked on to the track and cross country teams at Montana State University after a chance encounter with a formal high school rival at a football game. Since graduating in 2009, he has focused on the half-marathon and marathon, and he’s completed four of the six major marathons. His goals with GRC include trying to bring down 10-year-old PRs and contributing to a positive team environment. Matt currently works as a domestic network planning and strategy analyst at United Airlines.
